English Martyrs School News

Year 6 have been on their residential this week, visiting Alton Castle in Staffordshire.

The children went to the water park at Alton Towers, and then to Alton Castle, a gothic revival castle which is now a retreat centre for the Birmingham Diocese. They took part in lots of activities including a night time navigation task, trekking, cycling, survival, adventure course and archery.

They also celebrated Mass on Tuesday night in the splendid church on the site before enjoying a talent show and disco.

Years 3/4/5 recently enjoyed a trip to the New Walk Museum in Leicester to see the Ancient Egypt exhibition which really helped them in their school topic this term.

We are delighted thatBilly Ivory, a well known British screenwriter and actor and a member of our parish, has agreed to work with us helping to inspire our children in their reading and writing.

He came to school to talk in assembly and he will be delivering a writing workshop and organising a writing competition at the end of the year
