Freya's Project Borneo Update!
After a long 24 hours of travel, we arrived in Kota Kinabalu. We spent two days there, acclimatising and getting started on our expedition before travelling for 3 hours into Tenom to start our project work. With your generosity some of the money that has been raised went towards building an extension to the community church, which doesn't get government funding as the community are Christian.
We spent one day painting the new extension and a second day completing groundwork and planting 100 banana trees and 30 pineapple bushes. We played volleyball and danced with local children and got the opportunity to try on local dress.
After a final day of work tomorrow and a closing ceremony in the village, we are off to Sepilok to learn about Orangutan and Sun Bear conservation!
We still need to raise funds and could do with as much help as possible! You can read more about the project on my fundraising site www.gofundme.com/freya-borneo2107 which I will try to keep up-to-dated over the next few weeks.
The funds will go towards expedition costs and buying the resources needed to carry out the community work whilst I am out there. If there are any surplus funds I will donate them to Mary’s Meals and Parish funds.
Thank you so much for reading this and any contribution will be very much appreciated.
God Bless, Freya Menzies
