Exhibition of Ecclesiastical Textiles and Plate 13th-15th October 2017 - The Cathedral Church of St Barnabas, Derby Road, Nottingham
Opening times:
Friday 13th October 10.00am - 5.00 pm; Saturday 14th October 10.30 am -5.00 pm; Sunday 15th October 12.30am 5.00 pm
The Exhibition of vestments will include items from the Cathedral Church of St Barnabas, Nottingham, the Hassop Historical vestments collection, the collection of Holy Rood Church, Market Rasen and historical vestments and pieces from St. Mary's College, Oscott.
Many of these vestments date back to the 13th/14thand 15th centuries. Included in the Plate exhibits will be a chalice designed by Augustus Pugin.
There will also be exhibits from the Embroiderers Guild, Guild of Quilters, Spinners and Weavers and Bobbin Lace Makers. A talk will be given by the Reverend Jayne Shepherd on: "History of Church Lace" on Friday 13th October.
A further talk on: "The identification and history of Ecclesiastical vestments" on Saturday 14th October in the morning, followed in the afternoon by a workshop on: "Conservation and Preservation of Ecclesiastical Vestments" given by Jacqueline Hyman A.M, UKRIC, B.A.
